Avoid The Winter Blues (What You Want To Know Wednesdays)

Do you feel blue when winter hits? You may suffer from “Seasonal Affective Disorder”; a form of depression that usually begins in late fall or early winter and goes away as the weather improves. Use these tips to combat the winter blues.

  • Buy or Build a window box to grow herbs inside year around. Mint, rosemary, and thyme will thrive in a sunny window, and they will also smell nice. Adding any easy-to-care for plants is a benefit.   They will bring a breath of fresh air to the house.
  • Give your nose a spring treat by boiling sliced lemon, thyme, and a spoonful of vanilla. Or, soak cotton balls in your favorite essential oil and place them in your vacuum before you clean the house to keep the space smelling fresh.
  • Let more light in. You can clean your lightbulbs, or invest in uplights. Uplights are small and reflect light onto the ceiling. You can also invest in a dawn simulator; a light therapy tool.
  • Liven up your walls by painting your walls a spunky color such as orange or yellow.
