10 Steps To Writing Your Real Estate Agent Bio

When was the last time you looked at or updated your biography? You don’t want to overlook the power of your biography to help build and boost your personal brand and connect with future, current and past clients. A strong bio can attract new clients, build relationships and offer clients a reason to trust you. Here are 10 steps to make your biography outstanding:

  1. Include Professional Experience - Show off that you are well-rounded by including your skills, expertise, education, experience, and awards.
  2. Provide a Personal Touch - Include information about your family, pets, hobbies and extracurricular activities to show you are a real person rather than just a realtor.
  3. Link Yourself to the Real Estate Area - Show your knowledge of the area.
  4. A Bio is NOT an Advertisement - Keep your bio simple and honest, it is not a sales pitch or advertisement.
  5. Do Some Research - Find a bio you love and use it to start your own outline and make sure to reflect your own unique branding.
  6. 10-minute Brainstorm Session - It can be overwhelming to write your bio so start an outline and expand your thoughts.
  7. Just the Right Length - Aim for a medium bio, 2-3 paragraphs or about 250-500 words.
  8. Proofread and Review - Take a 24 hour break to review your bio or have a friend or colleague take a look.
  9. Don’t use too much of a Good Thing - Avoid going overboard with fancy fonts and writing techniques as this is distracting.
  10. End it Right - Be sure to include your contact information at the end of your bio to give potential clients an immediate and easy way to contact you.
